Gals on and off the Green
For the past 7 years since its inception in 2004, owner Jackie Sorrenti’s passion for Golf and fashion has been influencing women golfers in the Pittsburgh area one “Gal” at a time.
Opening this Pro shop inspired boutique was not the obvious choice for Jackie who describes her path leading to Gals on and Off the Green as the “classic entrepreneurial story”. After exploring a couple of different business avenues, her thoughts kept returning to the game she had developed a passion for. She realized ladies golfers didn’t have many options when it came to clothing, to the point where Jackie mentioned that “one of my friends had to buy men’s shirts”. Gals On and Off the Green was born out of passion for Golf, Love of fashion and a desire for women to look and feel good when the step into that tee box.
When you walk into Gals on and Off the Green, you’ll be greeted not only by the friendly sales staff but also by the rich dark wood colors normally found in Pro Shops and a tapestry of colors with beautifully merchandised clothing. “Our motto is fit, function, fashion and fun for women of all shapes and sizes with a wide variety of styles in sizes ranging from 0 to size 24, we feel like we live up to the standard we set” Jackie proudly stated.
Priding themselves on customer service, the team at “Gals” has been known to drop off clothing for a customer and ship overnight, “we take a very Nordstromesque approach when it comes to customer service” described Jackie. Adding to the experience, Jackie puts on Golfing outings, what not to wear seminars and themed fashion shows where Champagne and hors d’oeuvres are served all in the spirit of “bringing women together and making them feel good.”
When asked what customers love most about her store, Jackie feels that it comes down to comfort, “we help ladies discover their beauty, it really comes in all shapes and sizes.”
The staff at “Gals” will find you the right piece, they won’t try to sell you something that doesn’t fit properly, “we constantly get deliveries so if there really is nothing that works, and we’ll ask the lady to come back next week to make sure she gets that perfect item.”
As an example of their level of customer commitment, Jackie told the story of one of her associates who’s known to be notoriously late. One morning, being late as usual, she hadn’t had time to remove the tags from the skirt she had purchased the day prior which she was wearing. She ended up selling the very skirt off her own body as it was the only one in her customer’s size, now that’s commitment!
In Gals On and Off the Green, Jackie has fostered fit and style consultants, not simply sales staff. She’s created a welcoming atmosphere, one where thousands of people are invited for a drink while learning about what NOT to wear. They’ll even sell you the clothes off their back if it will make you happy.
